Indico Solutions development processThe primary aim of Indico is to provide guidance regarding the management of medical expenditure on workers compensation claims. As such Indico can be regarded as a treatment guideline specific to case managers and claims adjustors in workers compensation. There are a series of methodological issues involved in the development of a high-quality, evidence-based treatment guideline. A number of tools provide assistance to developers and reviewers of treatment guidelines. A systematic review has found that the critical appraisal tool designed by the AGREE collaboration is the most comprehensive of those that are validated. The AGREE collaboration is an international panel of experts in guideline development. The tool is considered authoritative and has become well accepted. Indico has used the AGREE tool as a guide for development. An overview of the development steps are shown in the flowchart below.
